HOW TO MANAGE STRESS

With the demands of work, family and society, stress can sometimes get the best out of us. Not being able to handle stress properly is not only a risk to our health, but also to our relationships.
While we may not have control over external stress factors, we do, however, have complete control over how to manage the stress. Here are some tips on how to deal with and reduce stress in our daily life.

1. Focus on one thing at a time

We all know Mr. Jack of all trades. The pressure of our society forces us to do a lot of things at the same time. With all the deadlines that must be met, we should all know how to master the art of multitasking.

While it can makes us do a lot, this constant juggling of activities leads to stress and burnout. Learn to focus on one thing at a time. Not only will this reduce your stress level, it will also improve your productivity, as your mind will only be focused on one single task.

2. Take a walk every morning

Walking is one of the easiest forms of cardiovascular exercise. Once our heart is trained, it releases hormones for happiness which makes us feel better.

To maximize the benefits of walking, start your day with a walk outside. Make it a daily morning routine. Besides the benefits of walking, fresh air and nature will free your mind and give you new perspectives. So taking a walk may decrease your stress level in a tremendous way.

3. Exercise regularly

There is no doubt that one cannot live a healthy life without exercising regularly. Aside from the fact that exercise helps us maintain or lose weight and lowers our risk for diseases, it can also reduce our stress levels and it’s very effective to manage your stress.

How can exercise helps us managing stress?

Exercise produces endorphins. These are the neurotransmitters present in our brains that improve our ability to sleep and it also acts as a natural pain reliever which, in turn, reduces stress.30 minutes of daily exercise improves fitness and has a long list of benefits. So for a better stress management you need to workout daily!

4. Listen to music

They say music is the food of the soul. There is a truth in this popular proverb, because music nourishes our soul and puts us in a state of calm and receptivity.

Whenever you are in a stressful situation, listen to your favorite song and you will be surprised at how it changes things. A hectic and stressful day at the office can be relieved if you have your favorite playlist playing in the background. Fill your smartphone playlist with cheerful songs to forget about a bad day. This will not only help you manage stress but also makes you in a happy mood.

5. Create a calendar

Stress and tension decrease when things go away. When you don’t know how to properly manage your schedule, things to do pile up and can quickly get out of hand. If you can’t deal with your to-do list, it can lead to pressure and disappointment.
Create a stress-free day by organizing your agenda. List all the things you need to accomplish within 24 hours, and assign each a specific time to accomplish them. Do this before you start your day so that you know how to organize yourself and get as much as possible. Accomplishing tasks will give you a feeling of pride and joy which will decrease your stress for sure.

6. Have fun every day

Laughter is the best doctor. It’s free and very effective. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Instead of frowning and being stressed out every time you make a mistake, laugh at yourself. Having a positive, fun outlook will make you feel better.

Find the things you love to do. Sometimes we have to put work aside and immerse ourselves in activities we love to recharge our batteries. Surround yourself with people who know how to have fun. Life is too short to be spent in anger or stress.

8. Spend time with family and friends

Family and friends are our support groups. They will be there with you in all trials and moments of happiness. Spending time with them brings comfort and happiness.
